Sculpture course Carrara marble and pink stone of Assisi
Introduction to the theory of sculpture, practice in hand engraving of stone and bas-relief decoration
4 hours per day 8:00/12:00, materials and tools provided, except for safety footwear and headphones. Works made will be the property of course students.
Theoretical introduction to copy techniques using pointing machine, technique practice by copying a classical bust from the plaster cast gallery available to us, tools will be available for use by students, 4 hours per day, 8:00/ 12:00. Course students may choose to keep their sculpture by paying a supplement for material used.
Master of sculpture theoretical introduction to compass technique, practice of said technique by copying classical works from the plaster cast gallery available to us, use of pneumatic and electric tools, duration 6/8 hours per day, 9 am start.
This course is reserved for sculpture professionals.
Course students may choose to keep their sculpture by paying a supplement for material used.
Course students are required to take out personal insurance.
Courses will be held by the Affiliati Peducci Savini team (Francesco Tufo, Elia Bottoloni, Diego Monacchia, Michele Panzino) under the supervision of Prof. Matteo Peducci and Mattia Savini.
The Assisi laboratory facility has a spacious outdoor courtyard with a 100 sqm canopy and three indoor rooms of approximately 100 sqm.
THE HISTORY OF THIS COURSE
The two sculptors Matteo Pedacci and Mattia Savini met for the first time while studying at the Academy of fine Arts in Carrara. Thus began a lasting friendship.
From 2007 to 2010 the two Artists were commissioned a major art project in Thailand to create three marble monuments: two for the sculpture park of Mahdol University and one in honour of the Princess of Thailand .
In 2013 they moved their workshop from Carrara to Assisi.
Matteo and Mattia are not just two Artists , they represent “ a place “, a former pink stone quarry , where they live and work .
In 2019, from an idea of the founders of Schola Artis PRO VOBIS, born a common interest and cooperation for a new artistic dissemination of ancient sculpture techniques of PINK STONE of ASSISI with which all the city, particularly the St. Francis Basilica including the Saint tomb;
a project of strong and deep symbology.
The Matteo and Mattia very advanced techniques as a result of extensive research, also apply on other materials such as Carrara marble.
