Giulio Busti, tutor
Giulio Busti was born in Deruta in 1945, and after having attended the local Art Institute, completed his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, and was a student of Edgardo Abbozzo.
At the end of the seventies he published a series of important writings dedicated to Umbrian and particularly Deruta ceramics.
In 1986 he presented ‘Pensare in Ceramica’, a ceramic art exhibition held in Castelli by the local Art Institute “F.A Grue”, Arabesque maiolica.
His works have been met with great success with critics and audiences both nationally and internationally, receiving significant awards, as well as being the author of numerous books on ceramic art.
Since 1990 he has lectured on ceramics in the major Italian and European museums and documentation centers and in 1999 he was appointed ceramologist of the National Ceramic Council.
A great experimenter of techniques and materials, he produces modern works, but is still inspired by tradition and is currently Conservator of the Regional Museum of Ceramics of Deruta and former Professor of ceramics techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts “Pietro Vannucci” of Perugia.
